What are Baptisms?
In the Bible, many were baptised to show that they had changed their lives. Christians are baptised as a step of faith and obedience to Christ, to publicly show that they believe in Jesus. Baptism declares that you are a follower of Jesus Christ and is the next step after salvation through the act of asking for forgiveness of our sins and is a foundation of our faith. Matthew 28:19-20
Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38 NLT
Water Baptism symbolises our old lives being washed away & rising up into our new life with Jesus. Rising up in His Power, Purpose & Strength.
We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we will certainly also be united with Him in a resurrection like His. For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe we will also live with Him. Romans 6:4-8 NIV
