PERSONAL DISCOVERY

(FOR YOU TO READ DURING THE WEEK)

Find some time alone this week, whether it is lying in your bed, taking a walk by the beach, or some other private place, to think about the following things:

  • God is with me right now, even when I can’t feel Him.

  • There is nothing I can do, or have done, that will make God love me less.

  • He loves me just as I am, but He loves me too much to leave me as I am.

  • He has an incredible future prepared for me.

We learnt this week that if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from every wrong.

1 JOHN 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Is there anything in your life that you would like God to forgive you and wash you clean from? Why don't you ask Him right now?

Each week we will highlight a verse for you, which has really changed our lives. We encourage you to read it over each day and to memorise it if you can, so that you can see the power of it in your own life.

THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

JOHN 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

We will learn in Week 2 about how powerful God’s Word (the Bible) is. When you read it and get it into your heart, it will change your life and give you an incredible inner strength!

PERSONAL DISCOVERY

(For you to do during the week)

IDENTIFY

Identify an area of your life you struggle to trust in. Reflect on why you struggle to trust in this area.

DISCUSSION

Has your trust in this area been impacted by past relationships or circumstances?

Has this impacted the way you see and experience God?

REFLECT

Take time to reflect on the personality and character of Jesus through the Word of God.

  1. Find a scripture.

  2. What does this scripture tell me about who God is?

  3. In what ways does this help me step out in confidence with what I’m facing?

THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

PROVERBS 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

We will learn in week 4 about how Jesus overcame temptation and in the same way, through following His example, we can do the same.

PRAY OUT LOUD

Take time this week to pray out loud about the temptation you’re facing.

SPEAK TO SOMEONE YOU TRUST

Is there someone in your life who you trust, who you can talk to about what you’re facing? This might be a counsellor, friend, leader, pastor etc.

ESTABLISH BOUNDARIES

What are some needed boundaries for you to implement this week?

There is power in verbalising to another human being, “this is what I’m facing”. When we confess what we have done, sin loses it’s power over us.

THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

JAMES 5:16

Confess your sins to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

In week 5 we will learn about what it means to be baptised, what happens at a baptism, and what occurs supernaturally as we go under the water!

ASK A FRIEND

Ask a friend or leader to share about their baptism. Why did they choose to be baptised? When and how were they baptised?

What other questions do you have about baptisms?

If you believe in Jesus, but have not yet been baptised, why don’t you speak to one of our leaders or sign up through the Globalheart website!

REFLECTION

  • In what ways have you obeyed God since you became a Christian?

  • What are the benefits of obeying God?

  • Are there any areas of your life that you are aware of that you need to surrender to God?

WHAT CAN I DO PRACTICALLY?

  1. Spend time praying and asking God to reveal to you, where He’s asking for your obedience.

  2. Spend time reading His word and pay attention to what you’re reading. Write it down.

  3. Pay attention to the impression left in your spirit.

  4. Speak to a leader you trust, about what you feel God is saying to you.

THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

In week 6 we will discover the secret power of the Christian life. In it you will find out how the Holy Spirit is a powerful person who comes alongside us to help us live the Christian life.

PERSONAL DISCOVERY

PRAY

If you haven’t yet, ask a leader to pray with you to receive the Holy Spirit for yourself, and experience all that God has for you.

Put some time aside this week to pray intentionally, and continue to ask God to fill you with His Spirit. God is omnipresent. This means He is everywhere at all times and at all times we can encounter Him anywhere! Whether you’re praying in your room, in your car or at the beach, God is there with you, ready and willing to bless you with His love. Come to Him with an open and expectant heart and get ready to receive!

Here are some ways you can invite the Holy Spirit into your day to day life:

  • Memorize and stand on scriptures that speak of the promises and faithfulness of God.

  • Fill your mouth and mind with songs of praise to God.

  • As you read God’s Word, invite the Holy Spirit to guide you and speak to you.

  • Listen for the Holy Spirit in the ‘little’ things.

  • Surround yourself with people who are serious about their walk with God.

THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

ACTS 2:38-39

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

In week 7 we will learn about how being connected into the life of the church is important for our growth as Christians and how this blesses God, ourselves and others.

PERSONAL DISCOVERY

(For you to do during the week)

Here at Globalheart Church, we consider reaching out to people one of our greatest responsibilities. Our weekend services benefit people at all stages of their spiritual journey, but are primarily geared towards those who don’t yet have a relationship with God, or who aren’t yet a part of a church.

One of our primary purposes, is to reach people who are far from God. Every one of us can do our part by following these four principles:

  • Accept the personal responsibility

  • Build a personal relationship

  • Share your personal testimony

  • Give a personal invitation

ROMANS 10:13-15

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”.

As we receive God’s love, joy and peace, we now have the opportunity to share it with others! God will bring people across your everyday path. Your story is the best tool you have to show others how amazing God is. Tell others what God has done for you. People will see the change in your life!

What are some good ways to do that? Below are some ideas:

  • Set aside time to pray for your friends and family.

  • Who are 5 people God has put around your life, who you can invite to experience their own relationship with God?

1. ________________________________

2. ________________________________

3. ________________________________

4. ________________________________

5. ________________________________

When telling people about what Jesus has done in your life, be sensitive. Do not back them into a corner or argue with them. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. You will be amazed at how many people are searching for something!

Pray & believe for God to draw these people to Him and provide you opportunities to invite them to church.

GET INVOLVED

There are many ways to get involved here at Globalheart Church! Each person is so significant and brings something so different. God has created you intentionally and set you aside for something great!

 THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

PSALM 27:4-5

One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek Him in His temple.
For in the day of trouble
    He will keep me safe in His dwelling;
He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.

In week 8 we will talk about different ways God wants to prosper us. Like any great Father, God wants to provide for you and bless your life in every area!

PERSONAL DISCOVERY

(For you to do during the week)

After learning more about the principle of sowing and reaping, can you think of some practical ways you can sow a seed in the different areas of your life? God has more for you than you are experiencing right now!

Here are some more verses to encourage you!

  • GIVING

LUKE 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”.

  • TRUSTING GOD TO PROVIDE FOR YOU

 MATTHEW 6:25-33

“Do not worry, saying, 'what shall we eat?', or 'what shall we drink?' or 'what shall we wear?' For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly father knows that you need them. But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”.

  • STORING UP TREASURE IN HEAVEN

 MATTHEW 6:19-21

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”.

We hope you have enjoyed learning more about God’s great love for you! We are excited for what God is going to continue to grow in you and through you as you continue to follow Him!
